using more than 4 name servers

Hello,

I have WHM/cpanel setup on CentOS and need to add more than 4 name servers.

WHM only allows up to 4 name servers so where can I add more?

I understand they are listed under /etc/nameserverips however just adding additional ones there what scripts would i run to sync?

I'm currently using BIND, would there be different methods if using other DNS options?

Home » Networking Setup » Nameserver IPs, and /etc/nameserverips, is nothing but a report. It is not a limit on how many nameservers you can host, and you do not need to do anything in Nameserver IPs for your nameservers to work.

You only need two things for your nameservers to work:

• The nameservers' IP addresses must be registered with the domain's registrar as nameservers, and;
• The domain's DNS zone must contain NS and A records for the nameservers.

That's it. There is no other special configuration needed in order to host your nameservers. Nameserver IPs, and /etc/nameserverips, exist only for your information, and they have no bearing on how many nameservers you can host or even whether your nameservers are actually working or not.

i don't know where my reply went so re-typing.

So since WHM only allows you to add 4 what you are saying is to add the 5th and 6th name servers i just have to edit each domain zone file and add them there?

Yes that, AND you must register them in the registrar.
