    Hey All,

    Having a problem on one of our machines. Its running

    WHM 5.3.0
    Cpanel 5.3.0-E133
    RedHat 7.3

    The problem is the IMAP server does not seem to want to login correctly.

    Here's a screen scrape of a login session -

    quote:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    root@quark [/]# telnet mail.elage.com 143
    Trying 66.220.27.164...
    Connected to mail.elage.com.
    Escape character is '^]'.
    * OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4REV1 LOGIN-REFERRALS AUTH=LOGIN] quark.cyberpixels.com IMAP4rev1 2002.325-cpanel at Tue, 14 Jan 2003 16:53:46 -0800 (PST)
    * LOGIN TEST@ELAGE.COM PASSWORD
    * NO LOGIN failed
    * LOGOUT
    * BYE quark.cyberpixels.com IMAP4rev1 server terminating connection
    * OK LOGOUT completed
    Connection closed by foreign host.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I'm only doing this via the command line because Horde/IMP doesn't seem to be able to authenenticate either. Additionally, the main user for the domain appears to be able to authenticate just fine, its only added users that have this problem. Anyone have any ideas as to what I should next?

    We have the same problem with one our client's account. Main user can get into Horde fine, however, any additional users can't get authenticated.

    Any ideas?

    Yes...

    ...Neomail works fine. As does POP authentication. Its just IMAP authentication that appears to be broken for some reason.

    Ben,
    Use the following:
    rm -f /etc/vmail/*
    then run
    /scripts/updateuserdomains

    That should do the trick. My guess is that the problematic account was created at least twice and the old records didn't flush out.

    Enjoy.

    I'm having this exact same issue, however; neither of the suggestions provided have helped. If there is anything else it could possibly be, that'd be great.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

    After the RH updates that I got through up2date today imapd stopped autenticating my virtual users. After following the advice to copy the bin from 3rdparty apps it resumed the normal behavior.

    We should have a list of what NOT to update through up2date so that we don't overwrite custom apps.

    For anyone else having this problem, just do as AlaskanWolf outlined above:

    cp /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/imapd /usr/sbin/

    and then restart imapd:

    /scripts/restartsrv imap

    We found that this issue occurred on every server that was upgraded to 9.3.0-C2, and the upgrade to C4 didn't fix it. For some reason an invalid imapd binary got deployed under C2.
