Ok. After upgrade to latest 7.2-RE I found following lines in my exim_mainlog

    2003-07-14 23:28:01 19bpbr-0005Kp-00 failed to open DB file /var/spool/exim/db/retry: Permission denied (euid=47 egid=12)
    2003-07-14 23:28:02 19cIMM-0006EJ-9z failed to open DB file /var/spool/exim/db/wait-remote_smtp: Permission denied (euid=47 egid=12)

Do you know how to fix it? :p

Permissions are the same whether you're using Exim 3/4; they're 644. If you're using Exim 3; ownership is root.root. If you're using Exim 4; ownership is mailnull.mail. DB directory should have the same ownership depending on version number and permissions set to 750.

    ciphervendor,

Yes, I know, but don't think that the problem is with permissions of /db files

I had this same problem.. It apparently was part of my kernel.. I still have it, but I ignore it because it really doesn't do much harm. That is, until i can do my kernel upgrade. -- that is, for the wait-remote_smtp part. I don't remember what he did for the other "retry" part which got removed

I need to dig what Nick said in my emails at home.
