I'm not sure a petition is going to keep them from raking in $10mil a day doing what they're doing. I definitely don't agree with what they're doing but they're the top doggs so it's their call I guess.

Yeah, they're the top dogs, but they answer to ICANN, right? Hopefully this petition will cause ICANN to revoke the priviledges that Verisign enjoys.

I think the .biz people did/do the same thing also. It obviously affects more people and gets more people's attention since it's the .com and .net stuff, but they aren't the only ones (or at least planning on doing it....I don't remember what that release said I read).

I just tried, and I couldn't get .biz domains to do that....My domain (.com), however, with an extra c brings up the Verisign page.

I of course disagree, it's obviously a business move nit a so called convenience for the viewer to get their domain instead of nothing. Not to mention they sell hosting, how is that even remotely fair competition.

Personally I think they are mad because they are losing money from bad management and want to bring the internet down with them.

Think about the next step is the government stepping in, all the government wants is a majority opinion and they will come in and regulate everything in a heart beat.

They actually tried in the late 90's but got rejected for obvious reasons but now with companies like netsol and back stabbing the internet who Else will the INTERNET turn to.

To be honest this assumes that all domains will point to them, if they just allow all unregistered
domain to work that would fine in my opinion.

Who knows, I hate when people are like without them there would be no internet.

Someone would of thought about it,,, I remember ever since wargames.. something would come from that phone thing...

Verisign has abused their power more than once. Companies like that need to be taken off their pedestal which ICANN should be able to do.

I received some of those fake renewals from them earlier also.

Anybody bother to read their Terms of Use?

That's great! I'd discontinue use of the Verisign services immediately.. If only I could... But gee, they've hijacked my browser and forced me to use their services. Kind of a catch 22 if you ask me. They've also got all kinds of "we have no liability whatsoever" clauses on there. So if some hacker manages to get a virus onto their main sitefinder page and some poor innocent soul gets forcefully redirected there and catches this virus, he's just screwed and Verisign gets to deny all responsibility.. Just doesn't seem legal to me.
