I use PureFTPd. When I log in via FTP to my accounts I can only view the directories and files below the account root directory.

That is fine, however I would also like to be able to login as the root user and to be able to view all files and directories on the server. Does someone know how to accomplish that?

Thanks but it must be possible to accomplish this using any ftp client.

Not if the ftp program doesn't have secure connections as an option. Root doesn't log in quite the same way as users.
