Hi - just got my 1st dedicated server.

    WHM 11.11.0 cPanel 11.16.0-R18546
    REDHAT Enterprise 5.1 i686 on standard - WHM X v3.1.0

I've gone through the basic steps to configure everything via WHM as written in the Web Host Manager Administration Guide.

But ... I'm seeing some database connectivity problems. I created a new domain and used Fantastico to install WordPress but when hitting the domain I'm getting:

    Code:
    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down.
I tried to hunt down the MySQL logs and not sure if I'm in the right place or not but I'm seeing:

    Code:
    [root@host mysql]# tail -f host.mydomain.com.err
    071223 17:26:41 InnoDB: Starting shutdown...
071223 17:26:44 InnoDB: Shutdown completed; log sequence number 0 360173
    071223 17:26:44 [Note] /usr/sbin/mysqld: Shutdown complete

    071223 17:26:44 mysqld ended

    071223 17:26:50 mysqld started
    071223 17:26:50 InnoDB: Started; log sequence number 0 360173
    /usr/sbin/mysqld: ready for connections.
Version: '4.1.22-standard' socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' port: 3306 MySQL Community Edition - Standard (GPL)

    [root@ded1 mysql]#
What's strange to me is that I can hit the DB fine via PhpMyAdmin so obviously there isn't a blanket connection problem...

Does anyone have suggestions to help me troubleshoot???

It seems that the database login details that you are given in the wordpress file in incorrect

    check the file wp-config.php

and try to login to mysql with that password

    mysql -u user -p

if that giving login failed error then you need to give the correct login details in wp-config.php file

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...

That is what I would have thought too ... I tried copy/pasting the login details from my config directly in to command line and there were no problems. My host corrected the issue by, "recompiling the apache/php via WHM" ...

    Thanks
