I have a dedicated server, that I installed ESXi on.

In one of my VM's, I have cPanel installed. I'm paying my datacenter for a full license, but it shows up as VPS Optimized in WHM.

Does this qualify for a VPS license (and are they cheaper)?

If it shows up as a vps then most likely it is a vps environment. You may want to check with cpanel directly first before changing it to avoid problems down the road.

VPS licenses are usually about half the price of regular licenses.
