Waiting for rsync to finish....

    I am new at installing CPanel :)

    The install started fine, updating Perl took ages and then I got neverending rows of "Waiting for rsync to finish....".

    On retrying, I found it had something to do with connecting to rsync.cpanel.net. I am currently unable to connect to either rsync.cpanel.net or layer1.cpanel.net -- both are down :eek:

    My questions:
    * What does rsync.cpanel.net do?
    * Is this server down frequently?
    * Is this reason for concern in terms of keeping my Cpanel license alive?

    The license server has multiple backups unlike layer1 and layer2.

    rsync provides updates

    and it is down whenever burst is down.

    Hi Guys,

    I'm attempting my first cPanel install, and have got the same error as the OP... is this a recurrant issue, and I should just wait for it to finish?

    So far it's been running for 6 hours :(

    No offense, but ever thought of moving away from Burst to a more stable network? Burst is unfortunatly very well known for instability and since users of cPanel require it, I would think it would make for good business to disassociate cPanel from Burst's on going network saga's.

    We haven't had anything at burst for about a year now.

    rsync didn't install correctly for some reason.

    rpm -q rsync

    If you are using a yum based distro your yum.conf is probably broken. Please submit a support ticket at http://support.cpanel.net and a tech will fix it for you (free of charge)
