Want to install DOS defense features

So i was digging around in some old threads

I liked what they had to say but I keep running into the fact that the command

up2date -i httpd-devel

keeps coming up as unrecognized. I seen dozens of pages on how to install the up2date feature, but am not sure on how to proceed.

I am running the latest stable version of Cpanel/WHM and I am using CentOS 5.6. Oh BTW i am trying to install mod_evasive.

Hello

CentOS 5.6 uses YUM as the standard package manager, thus if you were installing a package you would use a command such as:

yum install package-name

That being said, I do not recommend installing the "httpd-devel" or "httpd" package because Apache is handled through EasyApache on cPanel. I found the following guide for installing Mod_Evasive which may be useful to you:

Thanks for the excellent link. Here is another question Michael, I use csf firewall to your knowledge does the work well with Mod_evasive or is APF firewall better?

Hello

Mod_Evasive is based on Apache connections, and has no correlation to IPTables. The use of either APF or CSF should not have any impact on Mod_Evasive itself.

Are you able to clarify the instructions in the site you provided:
cPanel users can edit /usr/local/apache/conf/includes/post_virtualhost_2.conf or use the Apache Configuration option in WHM.

And then it gives apache conf file directives

<IfModule mod_evasive20.c>
DOSHashTableSize 3097
DOSPageCount 2
DOSSiteCount 50
DOSPageInterval 1
DOSSiteInterval 1
DOSBlockingPeriod 3600
</IfModule>

Does this mean to simply put the <IfModule ....></.....> into the /usr/local/apache/conf/includes/post_virtualhost_2.conf file and restart apache?

Are you able to clarify the steps?
