Is there any way that someone could show me that would allow me to do something close to the following:

    - when a single (specific - not all accounts) user logins to his ftp account, it would email me.

I have a guy who said he had a virus that used his pop to spam. I went ahead and enabled his account again but i want to watch him very tightly.

    Thanks for any help!

    Go on, have a guess
I'm not aware of a way. You could probably write a script that watches the xferlog for the domain. The xferlogs are usually stored in /usr/local/apache/domlogs/ along with all the other user logs.

if you are using pure-ftp then from ssh run the command

    watch pure-ftpwho

and you shall be able to see all ftp activity on your server online.

    Thanks
