    Hi All,

I have just joined and have a couple of questions concerning Web Disk.

I have a small web-hosting account with CPanel 11. There is a predefined Access Web Disk which I am trying to use, but am somehow not getting it to work properly.

    1. When I open it as secure SSL I get a Security Warning:

Information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by others. However, there is a problem with the sites security certificate (SC):

    a) The security certificate is not from a trusted certifying authority.
    b) The security certificate is valid
    c) The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site.

I could fix issue a) by viewing and saving the SC as a trusted authority.

However, if I proceed despite of the warning, issue c) continues to persist and causes other problems and warns about legitimate and trusted websites as not having valid certificates.

I spoke about these issues with my web support and they simply said that it was working properly as they tested it. Changing the account might fix the issue. But it did not.

So, I use the Web Disk exclusively as non-SSL. But in this mode also somehow, dragging and dropping files does not seem to work at all or not properly. To load a ca. 10 MB file seems to take forever and continues to load the file for hours on end..

Is this normal? Or am I doing something wrong?

I also tried using another application - Tera Copy - which simply drags and drops files very, very fast, but Web Disk is not available at all (either on Desktop or in any other location) when using this option.

Thanks for any help or info in the matter.

    Regards.

The issue you describe is common for servers where a self-signed SSL certificate is in use.

Note, using SSL is almost always more secure than using plain text. By not using SSL, your passwords are being transmitted in plain text.

The application you mention seems to use FTP rather than the protocol WebDisk uses which is called WebDav. Note that FTP is a plain-text protocol. I am unsure if the application you mention supports either FTPS (also known as FTP over SSL/TLS) or SFTP. If so, you may wish to consider using those instead of plain-text FTP if security is a concern. Note that SFTP will encrypt all traffic, FTPS will only encrypt your login credentials.
