I have tried everything I can think of but every folder I, or any of my clients have protected with web protect require the user to log in twice.

    To be specific:

Folder &test& set up with a user and protected via webprotect

The user calls up the location: http://domain.com/test
The pop up says login to test,
    The user logs in...
The pop up appears AGAIN and says login to test,
    The user logs in..

    This time it works..

    What gives?

I've noticed this from time to time as well. Only on some accounts.

If you look at the auth box that appears the domain actually changes.

First time it will be domain.com, the second it will www.domain.com

If anyone has a way around it that would be great :)

    This works for me

    I always put http://domain.com/test/
adding the additional backslash for some reason seems to fix the problem if its after the folder name. Not sure why???

In the situation where you are asked to authenticate for domain.com and www.domain.com, do you have an entry for both in your httpd.conf?

Yes, both are added...Cpanel DOES add both doesn't it?

I know I have used both on this domain so yes...

The previous &fix& DOES work...so, if adding a '/' after the address works, might that indicate that .htaccess is not sure where it should provide access?

What is amazing to me is that NO ONE ELSE complained about this...&grin&

    Thanks

    Excellent!

Thanks for the research involved with finding that reference!

    It makes sense I guess....
    At least it's solved!

    Thanks!
