    Hello everyone!

I have a small problem with my shared hosting environment. I have purchased a WHM/cPanel-enabled account and switched to using webalizer instead of a custom statistics solution as it is much more precise, depending on the server logs rather than internal counting.

my beef with it is this: the config options used for running webalizer could be tweaked to result in statistics that are much more usable

I would like to see the following changes in the default setup:

    PageType php
    AllSites yes
    AllURLs yes
    AllReferrers yes
    AllAgents yes
    AllSearchStr yes
    AllUsers yes
    # for the domain I'm trying to make the stats
    # usable... this should be the domain name
    # for which the stats are running
    HideReferrer **
    HideURL *.gif
    HideURL *.GIF
    HideURL *.jpg
    HideURL *.JPG
    HideURL *.png
    HideURL *.PNG
    HideURL *.ra
    HideURL *.css
I have been playing with my own copy of webalizer but running it on the same old log file that cPanel used... I have gotten some progress, but also lost some cool features

the cPanel version can be seen at:
and my version can be found at

the data is *almost* the same, but that's not my concern...

the main differences in favor of my version are: 'Top 30 URLs' showing PAGES, not support images and CSS files and allowing the 'View ALL URLs' option for it.

my second aim was to get local referrers (one local page linking to the other) to not show so a bigger list of external ones could be seen... local referrers are not at all interesting (I already know what links to where :) ). unfortunately, I somehow managed to disable referrer counting totally.... god knows what I messed up.

anyway, I'd really like some input on this problem as I think it concerns all cPanel users and not just me.

thanks for hearing me out... peace out, AlliX

    Same here!

The cPanel generated Webalizer stats are swamped by "Referrers" from the local site. This information is useless. I wish I could edit the master conf file and sort this out.

Also, can the countries be sorted out?

    Found this:

    pico /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

    #HostnameLookups Off
    HostnameLookups On

This will add some colour to your Countries table.
