A client contacted me with this issue and it appears to be specific to his domain. He went to look at his December stats in Webalizer and it is only a partial run. Everything is missing from the first half of December and the rest of the month is sporadic. This is only in Webalizer...the analog stats seem to be correct. This only affects December and so far everything is reporting fine in January.

I was going to run /scripts/fixwebalizer, however I received the message it would destroy all previous webalizer data...I stopped at that point..

I also tried to manually run the logs with runweblogs...that didn't fix it.

What is the next step here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No I did not...the customer was pretty forgiving about it but I'd like to know what happened...that was the only time I've seen it happen.

Hi,

I had a similar problem. Found out that if a log file gets rotated or deleted webalizer resets the history log to the new log. It loses the beginning.

Just check your log for dec and see at what date it starts.

I hope this will help you.

Ronald,
Thanks for the reply. What I thought was strange was the fact that all logs are rotated but this is the only account it happened to. I'm going to continue to look into it a little more ;)

I'd like to bump this up again because it seems to have happened to this client again, this time for January stats. It is the only client on the server that is having previous months stats disappearing. For clarification, in 'Tweak Settings'

Keep log files at the end of the month (default is off as you can run out of disk space quickly) This option is not checked

Delete each domain's access logs after stats run This option is also not checked...

Even if I'm not keeping the log files at the end of the month, shouldn't there be some historical data for past months stats. I know all my servers are set up this exact same way and no other domains have this problem with disappearing stats.

I'm having the same problem. Everytime the logs are run, it wipes out all earlier info from webalizer.

Settings however are:
Keep log files at the end of the month (default is off as you can run out of disk space quickly) - unchecked
Delete each domain's access logs after stats run - checked

this didnt used to happen, and I never twiddled those settings. I cant keep the log files themselves on the server as the 1 site generates a GB a month in logs alone...

Maybe a bit off topic...

I'll be moving an account over that requires that they see the top 100 entry and exit pages.

I've changed this in the .conf but it seems to have no effect. Even if I change it to 10 it still shows the top 30; which is the default.

Is there another file that Webalizer is reading that also needs to be modified?

One of my customers just told me (i hadn't ever looked into this) that cpanellogd looks in /home/username/ for a webalizer.conf file when it does that domain's domains.

Also, I remember last year sometime having this same problem. There is a line in the main webalizer conf about history or something I'm sure, can't remember exactly. I had to change it and then it didn't delete old data!

OK...bumping again. I've had other users now asking where their stats went to everything prior to today is gone :(

Settings are:
Keep log files at the end of the month (default is off as you can run out of disk space quickly) - checked
Delete each domain's access logs after stats run - unchecked

Put in webalizer.conf in the user directory to regenerate all stats since the beginning, ignoring history.

See what that does.

Don't you love how no cPanel developers/admins post here anymore?
