Hi there.

I have 2 cPanel licences, one for each company. I'm thinking in host that 2 companies in the same server but this 2 companies is a very different business and I don't wants to permit for everyone see what websites is hosted on this server.

I saw some time ago, a website tool (don't remember the name of this website), but I remember that shows every site is hosted in same IP or every site hosted in same Name Server.

If I host this 2 websites in different IPs and they have own NameServers, is possible to someone discover what websites is hosted on this server? Maybe by HostName or some e-mail sent will appear hostname? I'll work with dedicated address for every site, and I'll use dedicated IP for email sender too.

Thanks for help!

I'd say that if you had each "company" on different IP blocks and on different name servers, then you should be good. But we have both left and right "wingers" on the same server, same shared IP with no issues...

Well... I believe that other peoples can see some information by running some commands over the DNS Server.

Need to someone from staff of cPanel to give a trustable reply!

Hello :)

Assigning dedicated IP addresses to each website would make it more difficult for someone to determine if the websites were hosted on the same web server. However, with enough research, someone determined to discover if two websites are hosted on the same server would likely not have a hard time making that discovery. The hostname of a server is revealed through several avenues (Apache, PHP, Exim). In addition, a traceroute would reveal details about the location of the server hosting the website. You would really have to place the website on it's own VPS or dedicated server if you wanted to avoid someone knowing it was on a shared server with another website.

Thank you.

By another way...

You have www.yourdomain.com and It is hosted on a cPanel webserver, someone can run commands like this?

"Let-me see all websites hosted on this server" -> and run some command on DNS server or something like this is possible?

Thank you for your time!

Account specific data of other accounts should not be obtainable unless an attacker exploits a script and uses escalated privileges.

Thank you.

I think you may be looking for a website like DomainTools.com.
This type of website will list websites that it finds based on a certain IP address. This is NOT a security risk and has nothing to do with cPanel.

All this is doing is taking the IP address and reversing it and obtaining any domain names that have that A record.
