Sounds more like hardware failing to me.

on two hard drives at once or is it just one? what can I do to fix this? I have a backup hard drive right now, so I hope that solves the whole back up part of this. heh

    Go on, have a guess
The error is coming from the drives SMART controller. Whether it is a problem or not may depend on a few factors:

How long has the drive been in the server? If it's within the past few days, then it could just be an incompatibility with the SMART software that cPanel uses (it's older than the latest smartmontools) and the errors are spurious.

If it's an old drive that you've been using for weeks/months/years then this is a genuine cause for concern as the drive has clocked a serious error. If the emails that you get have an increasing error count (ATA Error Count: 552) - i.e. that number increases from one email to the next - then the drive is on its way out and you should replace it ASAP before it dies.

You could also install the latest version of smartmontools and run some tests to determine the health of the drive:

    Thanks buddy.

The ATA Error count did go up to 600+ so I'll be changing the drive ASAP. Thanks for the info. :)

I got one of those emails last year, an hour later it was gone. The drive I mean.
A fan had gone out and it overheated I was told.

Backups are a good thing. :)
