Hi All,

A common reply to problems people are having is often along the lines of "check your logs..."

Easy to say, but not always so easy or obvious to find :)

My question: what and where are the most useful logs on a linux box to know about? Here are a few for starters (may not be the same on all *nix servers I presume):

/var/lib/mysql/[servername].err (mysql connections log)

/usr/local/apache/domlogs/ (apache logs for all hosting accounts)
/usr/local/apache/logs/php_error_log (php errors)
/usr/local/apache/logs/error_log (apache errors for hosting accounts and more)

If you're string to track down what's happening with emails, try looking here:
/var/log/ (lots of log files here, eg. weekly mail logs), eg. exim_mainlog
/var/spool/exim_incoming/msglog
/var/spool/MailScanner/quarantine

Any more for any more? Thanks.
