    Hi,

We're in the process of migrating to a new server. However, in the process we are reaching levels of 90%+ of usage in the /usr partition. Is there anyway to make room by deleting things from here? We've never used squirrel mail, but we see that it takes a good amount of space in this area? Same thing for frontpage extensions. How can we safely remove extra 'features' that are not in used?

    Thanks
    JA

It's incredibly risky removing things from /usr. If you need to ask this question, you probably shouldn't be removing things as you could break your system badly.

Having said that, if you do a backup, you may be able to safely remove stuff under /usr/local. Or you could use a symlink (ln -s) to move stuff to another disk with more room.

Unless the 90% full indication is actually causing you problems, and it shouldn't be, you'd be best just leaving it alone and moving as fast as you can.
