Hi, what setting controls the upload speed? I have called the hosting about the upload speed running 20 sec to 4 minutes for a 9mb audio file. I want to check the upload setting but have no clue how. Thank you

Hey there, @KimberH

There isn't anything in cPanel that limits the upload or download speed from the server. That would all be up to the speed of the server's network connection, and your ISPs connection to the system.

You may want to try performing a traceroute test from your local workstation to the server to see if that shows any slowness on the network. The traceroute section is about halfway down this article:

If you see a sudden major increase in the time it takes to make the connection, that could indicate slowness on the network between you and your server. if you don't see anything odd there, it would be good to get more details from the host about the speed issues and have them check that on their end.

It can be slow if you are on different continents where the server is hosted, i.e. UK to USA or USA to the UK.

I know this from when I used to run a music community many years ago that allowed users to upload their music.

To have a quicker upload speed choose the server location closest to you.

You are absolutely right that the physical location of the server directly affects the loading speed of the site. For example, I tested the site speed https://www.host-tracker.com/en/ic/page-speed-test of this forum. It loads in 4+ seconds in Germany and 7+ in Canada. This clearly shows the difference from geolocation.
