    Hi all,
I have a useless host, but he has the cheapest rates I've seen, so I stick with him. He uses CpanelX. Last week, his server was taken down because one user had illegal content. When he got another colocation, I tried to restore my home backup, but the databases were not there. There did seem to be an issue with the restoration - it seemed to not complete perfectly. I was sure that I had previously resurrected my site, dbs and all, by restoring the home directory, but now I'm not so sure.

My question is, does the home backup (not the full backup, which I wish I had done before!) contain any information about the SQL dbs?

Thanks to anyone who can help!
    Steve

    Hi,

It's sad to hear you got a useless host :-(

    As what I know:

HOME DIRECTORY - Download a home directory Backup
    This will backup the
    .\tmp
    .\public_html
    .\public_ftp
    .\mail
    .\etc
    .
    .\www
    .\.spamkey
    .\.lastlogin
    .\.contactemail

If you want to backup your database as well, you need to do this:

Download a MySQL Database Backup - sqlname, sample

I hope you're able to recover your database.

    Cheers!

    Hi Steve,

I'm sure you have backup the whole of your site including the email accounts completely.

The only sadback is you did not backup your MySQL database.

It's a lesson to learn now and be sure to backup your database in case you want to move your site to another server.

    Oh yes, my ICQ: 163040037

    Rgds,
    Vincent
