    Hi,

Almost all default settings are coming along with cpanel/WHM. Also the csf is a good firewall for an online server. You can install

    1) mod_security or some security packs ( If you want more security) Or You can go for a security audit on your server.

    2) You can install fantastico for more applications to be run on server.

Right, you can have Mod Security which is an embeddable web application firewall and also Mod Evasive to protect from DOS attacks. CSF can also be configured to protect your server from SYN attacks.

I'd also setup and test an offsite backup system to transfer backups OFF the server to another location...

    Hi,

The remote FTP backup only needed ,

    1) if you are having space issues in your server, else you can go for local backup that you can configure easily through cpanel.

    2) If any harddisk/(other hardware) issues which may ruin the data in server.

Remote FTP backup also can be configured thorugh WHM.
