I have a user that I accidently deleted his emails in one of his email accounts. He does not want the entire account terminated and recreated. I would like to know exactly what file his emails are stored in so I can copy them from my backup drive.

    Thanks very much

In the backup, since the backup mirrors the actual paths on a cPanel system, it should be in:

    home/cPanelUser/mail/EmailAddress

    Where:

cPanelUser = cPanel username for the account in which the email resided
EmailAddress = Full user@domain.ext address of the email you deleted.

This will contain 3 directories: cur, new and tmp and 1 file: maildirsize (not counting the actual files representing emails which would be in those directories)

Thank you for the quick response. One more question please.

    root@ns1 [/backup/cpbackup/monthly/********/homedir]# cp mail /home/********/Backup

    cp: omitting directory `mail'

Keep getting omitting directory error. Please advise. Thanks again.
