I just got 9.9.8-RELEASE 105 on one of my servers and, like every night, I went in to inspect and hand-edit the flat-file database for a prototype system I have running. I do most things like this in VI under a shell but I happen to like doing this particular file in a GUI right on the server. It saves me a lot of time. Unfortunately, all of a sudden there's NO TEXT EDITING FUNCTION in the file manager. Who the hell thought THIS was a good idea?

There's now some kind of html editor available for files that end with HTML but nothing for config, cgi, pl, txt or any other kind of file.

Now I realize that some people think they need to edit HTML in a wysiwig editor instead of using VI or Notetab like 'real men' ;) but why screw everyone else by removing the text editor???

Would like to see this back too :)

Also, the file type thing is blank now..."file type: html" or "file type: text" etc. etc. and
now it just says "file type" and nothing next to it

    Terrible!

This is terrible . . .being able to nip in and edit files on the fly like this was an almost essential feature, so cool and useful and quick and easy . . .

PLEASE put this back, it was probably my most used feature of cpanel!!! Yeah, REALLY!

Dont think this pertains to our problem, we are talking about the raw text file editor, not the WYSIWYG editor. Not sure if this was intentionally removed or not.

We still have a plain text editor and the wysiwyg editor which is now working. Mind you this is on Edge 114.

    Build 106 fixed it.

    Gotta love the quick fixes.
