I know what a parked and a subdomain are, but what's an addon / add-on domain?

Can someone enlighten me, or point me to some documentation that can?

Thanks.

It is a domain pointed to a subdirectory of the main site. Essentially it is a domain parked on a subdomain. Therefore I can have domain1.com and domain2.com hosted on the same webspace pointing to different content.

Wow.

Thanks for your reply.

My next question is - why?

Is it essentially a poor man's alternative to avoiding having to pay for two separate hosting accounts?

Or are there real functional benefits over two hosting accounts? For example, it might be easier to share common code between a primary domain and an addon domain than it would be if the two domains had their own separate hosting accounts.

Just curious.

Thanks again.
