I see the cPanel Dns Admin Cache Service in the list of services in WHM and I'm wondering what the purpose of this is. What does it do, improve, etc?

    Hello :)

    Per our release notes:

dnsadmin, the system that cPanel & WHM uses to perform DNS updates can now be run as a service (daemon). This eliminates the need for it to startup and shutdown each time a DNS change is made. During testing, it was able to process 22x as many DNS update requests in the same time. This should increase performance for users running DNSONLY.

Keep in mind that speed is improved, but memory usage will increase.

    Thank you.

So it will not profit to enable this service on regular cPanel hosting servers?
We have two cPanel servers running as nameservers, but there are still some hosting accounts on them. I have enabled dnsadmin, but didn't see any improvement on speed anywhere.
Memory usage is not increased either.

    Hello :)

How many domain names are handled on these servers?

    Thank you.

    Around 30.000 domains.
I enabled this on our two nameservers earlier today and didn't see more memory usage and neither any performance boost in dns handling.

But I did remove a hosting account and zone file, and tried creating the same domain/account on another hosting server, but got error that the zone existed. Hours later when I tried again I was able to create the account.

So for me this service only causes pain?

What's the difference between cPanel DNS Admin Cache and Name Service Cache Daemon?

You are welcome to disable the "dnsadmin" service if you are not seeing an improvement in performance. As far as the difference between those two services:

    Thank you.
