What is DNS
DNS is short for "Domain Name System" and it is the method of identifying computers on the internet.
Every computer on the internet is assigned a numerical address but people generally use descriptive names to reach computers (domain names) instead of the numbers to get to where they are going on the internet.
The DNS system takes control behind the scenes and translates the names of the computers you try to reach into the numbered address so that your computer can actually reach the destination you are trying to reach.
When coming to this forum community, you typed "forums.cpanel.net" in your web browser and the DNS system told your computer that it needed to
instead make a connection to 126.96.36.199 and here you are now!
