Basically, Edge is the newest release so it has the newest features but is less tested.

Release, is not quite as new as Edge, but the features have been more thoroughly tested....

Stable is the oldest release, therefore has the most runtime...

I don't know about basing decisions on that since I've had more bugs with stable versions......and the udpdates are more frequent with Edge (sometimes more than once a day)....Personally, I prefer to run Edge ;)

I like to manually update. That way, if there is a bug, I can allot time to figure it out.

On Auto, I sometimes don't know of a problem until an angry customer calls, and then I have no idea of whether it's related to an update or not. If I manual update and I get the call, I can at least track down the problem quicker..... in theory.

Alas.... if only Stable really was....
