A reseller account normally uses the server hostname for the PTR reverse dns but when the reseller uses a shared dedicated IP for the reseller main account and the accounts under it. What is the correct reverse DNS for that dedicated shared IP?

I have tried to point it to the server hostname and the main reseller account domain but both have an error in cPanel.

Code:
To fix this problem, contact your system administrator and request that they replace all PTR records for “123.123.123.1” with the following record at “ns1.webhost.tld” and “ns2.webhost.tld”:

Suggested “PTR” (PTR) Record PTR

Hello @WebHostPro,

Can you browse to the Domains and IPs tab in WHM >> Exim Configuration Manager >> Basic Editor and confirm how the following options are configured?

Send mail from the account’s IP address
Reference /etc/mailhelo for custom outgoing SMTP HELO
Reference /etc/mailips for custom IP on outgoing SMTP connections

Additionally, can you confirm if this server uses a 1:1 NAT setup?

Thank you.

This thread never got followed up on, but I have the same question now.

I have a reseller account now with a 2nd dedicated IP address for this reseller (example 2.2.2.2) that will have 2 domains on it, both sending email. I am using a reseller account simply to be able to have a 2nd shared IP address on this server, so I was going to set up manually a reseller account without a domain. What would I use for the PTR record in this scenario, or do I have to set up a reseller account with a resolvable domain name (1 of the two domains that will be on this ip?) and use that domain name for the reseller account and subsequently as the reverse PTR entry so both domains can use that to reliably send email?

WHM 110.0.7 on almalinux v8.8.0
Send mail from Accounts IP address is ON
/etc/mailhelo for custom outgoing SMTP HELO is greyed out and can't be modified; I presume because the above is set to ON?
Send mail from the account’s IP address is ON, and
Reference /etc/mailips for custom IP on outgoing SMTP connections is greyed out and can't be changed; presumably because of the above setting.

Thank you for any assistance!
