What is the Difference Between WHM and CPanel SSL Tools?

Hi All,

I have no problem installing SSL keys and certificates via WHM. The process works well and the Apache config file changes to host the new SSL domain are set without issue.

However, when a CPanel user uses the CPanel SSL tool to create keys and install certificates on a dedicated-IP domain, they are installed to a different location and no changes to the Apache config file are made to create a virtual host listening on 443.

Can someone explain what the CPanel SSL interface is used for and how it should be used? I've found nothing in the documentation or these forums that spells it out clearly for me.
