Cpanel has made some changes but they have not bothered to keep those changes consistent.

In some of the users directies that were created a long time ago the user owns his www -> public_html/ directory.

lrwxrwxrwx 1 jack jack 11 Jul 8 15:03 www -> public_html/

While looking though other directories we find the root user owning www -> public_html/.

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 Jul 8 15:03 www -> public_html/

So what is is suposed to be? If its changed why hasn't it been updated for everyone and how do we convert all existing to be the same?

So that means we have to go though each account to make suer its user.user? Gawd, i have one reseller who hosts 352 websites on one server. How am i going to go though each directory to change the root.root to user.user? Seems to me that it would be more logical for it to be root.root so dumb users dont go though deleting the www and then wonder why they get a 403.

Go on, have a guess
As a symlink it doesn't really matter much. I've no idea why they've changed it, if they have, you're better off asking them directly for an answer to that.
