    That's a problem with spamd (SpamAssassin) not exim. You could try the following to fix:

    /scripts/perlinstaller --force Digest::SHA1
    /scripts/perlinstaller --force Mail::SpamAssassin

    Then restart the SpamAssassin daemons:

    /scripts/restartsrv_spamd

    No Joy

    Thanks for your kind help Chirpy, unfortunately it didn't do the trick.

    I have a feeling it is related to the only other problem I also have on this box whereby the main reseller account is unable to collect mail (it's sub accounts work fine):

    Mar 8 23:18:25 server1 cpanelpop[18421]: User not found user=userme homedir=/home/userme passwd=/home/userme/etc/usermedomain.com/shadow
    Mar 8 23:18:25 server1 cpanelpop[18421]: User not found user=userme homedir=/home/userme passwd=/home/userme/etc//shadow

    It's as if this reseller account's credentials have somehow been lost, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

    No, that's probably the wrong tree ;) You will see those errors when users configure their email clients for virtual POP3 accounts and forget to add @domain.com to the end of the username - cppop trawls through all the domains looking for a match.

    Bump. Any Ideas? Prob still there.

    Same complaints from spamassassin, in maillogs.

    More recently spamassassin shuts down:

    ar 21 00:50:04 server spamd[13197]: result: Y 997 - ALL_TRUSTED,DNS_FROM_AHBL_RHSBL,GTUBE scantime=0.2,size=834,mid$
    Mar 21 00:50:04 server spamd[13182]: server killed by SIGTERM, shutting down
    Mar 21 00:50:09 server spamd[32466]: server started on port 783/tcp (running version 3.0.2)
    Etc. (usual startup messages)

    The problem seems to be related to spamassassin not receiving the correct username input, and not liking running as root, but where can this be changed?

    I'd be really grateful for any ideas.

    You can try turning autolearn off. Edit the /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf file to include

    auto_learn 0

    Then restart exim and see if the errors change.
