What is /usr/local/cpanel/bin/backupwrap used for?

Hi,
This is the first time i am seeing the below executables in Process manager which is running as cPanel user
/usr/local/cpanel/bin/backupwrap FETCH 2022-02-01

And below executable running as root
cpwrapd - serving <USERNAME>

Can i know what is this for?

Hey there! This is part of the backup system and has been included in cPanel for at least the last ten years, as see references to that file in installation logs from at least 2012.

Is it possible a cPanel user is running a backup on the machine through the cPanel >> Backup Wizard tool? That would trigger cpwrap and the backupwrap function.
