Hello,

I want some suggession and advise about the virtfs in /home/virtfs.

This /home/virtfs is a directory with a size of 84GB on the server. This directory is using very big space on the server, so we are facing some problem. Please give me some information about this directory.

Will I face any problm if I delete this directory or move this directory.

Thanks in advance.

Sachin.

All i know is virtfs is a name of a program which lets your control VPS's

Looks as if someone you host is running their own VPS's as virtfs allows you to run VPS but without actually running any programs.

I think if you have jail shell enabled and users with shell, you will get that dir. I don't think deleting it is a good idea. Sorry I don't know more, but do some searching here because I have read a few other threads discussing this over the past couple years.

I WOULD NOT delete that folder. We did a while back by accident, and it screwed up our entire O/S and had to do a couple new O/S install. It cause a problem with the O/S kernel and other critical system files.

Go on, have a guess
Indeed. The /home/virtfs is a file system for the jailshell shell. It uses hardlinks to system directories binaries and libraries to provide a limited shell environment. If you delete the files in it, you delete the actual system files they're linked to - bad idea. Just leave it well alone.

Hi,

I would like to know if I move the /home/virtfs to /backup folder and create the symbolic of /backup/virtfs to /home/virtfs than will it work fine.

I was thinking to do it from "ln -n".

Thanks.

It would be a bad idea to move virtfs. Better is to leave it as it is.

But they do double your users quota usage reported in cpanel.... which we have a problem with, but no solution :(
