What makes cPanel think it's on a new machine?

I got this message when restarting my server:

But of course I've only ever had one machine at this address, so something is making the system think that the machine identity is changing and re-activating itself.

This is probably my fault; I'm using this server for development rather than traditional hosting, so I do checkpoint and restore the OS to a previous state every now and then; but it's always restoring the same image from the same computer, never switching machines. There could be some parameters that change, but I'm not sure what to look for.

So what does cPanel look at to determine the identity of the machine? That is, what stuff should I try to avoid changing in order to keep from confusing cpanel?
