Many people coming to our Web site asking what OS they should be using with their servers. We are taking a poll to find out the most popular OS. Although there was a similar poll on this forum, we are asking for your input. Please, click here to case your vote.

    Thank you very much!

Can only vote once (obvious reasons), but I would recommend CentOS or RHE commercial.

I'm with David on that, either RHE or CentOS. FreeBSD for those that prefer BSD, though features and bug fixes can and do lag behind the RH derivatives.

RHEL all the way. I think Centos is great if you really can't afford to pay money. But i think at some stage Linux will only be a success if we put some money back into it. I specifically chose a data center that offered RHEL, so that i felt some money was going back to the Linux community.

I use WinXP on all my desktops and laptops - but I'm Linux all the way for my servers.

I switched over to centos. When RedHat was approx $60/yr for the update service I had all the servers on it. However when they went to RHEL, unless you managed to cut a special deal the pricing was 5x the old pricing and that was for ES if you wanted to use AS you could sink a ton in updates. I believe in contributing back to Linux but in my opinion RH got a little excessive in their update pricing. I have made several donations to the CentOS org and I do still have 1 active RHEL account but I am not for sure I will be renewing it.
