I have two servers that say they do not have enough space to make the new cpanel upgrade.

I don't know what partition or folder I need to free the space up on.

Also can we do a symlink to the home partition for the upgrade?

For cPanel & WHM 11.36 files are staged in /usr/local/cpanel/tmp. Whichever partition contains /usr/local/cpanel will need ~1.6 GB of free disk space to continue.

Symlinking is possible, but not recommended. Due to how the disk space check is performed you would need to move /usr/local/cpanel to the largest partition, then symlink back to /usr/local. That scenario tends to cause issues, primarily with the cgi-sys directory.
