    Hi,

    A couple of questions:

    1) Where does exim store passwords?
    2) Is it possible to read/retreive them?

Looked for the whole forum but couldn't find anything.

    Anyone?

    Thank you

    please check

    /home/username/etc/shadow and /home/username/etc/passwd

But I am not sure if you can retrieve that. I think the answer is No.

    Go on, have a guess
The answer is definitely no, they're one-way encrypted.

So bottom line if I need to migrate a complete system with mailboxes to a qmail dedicated server for this customer it will be impossible and I have to recreate mailboxes and go mailbox by mailbox / customer email and ask them to put the new passwords again or I have to ask existing mailboxes their own passwords?

I guess there is no other choice with cross platform migration.
