    Hi Guys,

Which Apache version do you use and why you choose it?

    Apache 1.x or Apache 2.2 ?

Which is better do you think?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Ive found apache 2.2.6 to be better than 1.3 - it just wors better with modern technology, like Quad cores, etc.

I find cPanel works much better on Apache 2.2.6 as well.

    Hello Sarhosting,

Thank You very much for your opinion. It will help me considering which apache I want to install in my box and I am using cpanel.

    Thanks again!

    I'm using Apache 2.2 too.

I haven't done any benchmark but i realized that my servers load have decreased since i started to run Apache 2.2.

We have a few servers runing Apache 1.3 & Apache 2.2.6

We found that the servers with 1.3 where a little slower, same specs, same hardware same setup - exactly the same. I also found cPanel slightly slower with 1.3 - I also found that system was just generally more stable.

Where 2.2.6 cPanel ran faster, quicker to respond, quicker to action this. We foudn the system much more stable and superior, things like httpd not dropping etc.

We also found sites tobe served quicker - we found mysql forums and intensive apps to be quicker too.

Well thats just a bit we found

Technically yes, but it's not recommended. Given that PHP 4 will reach full EOL in about 7 months, I'd recommend migrating to PHP 5 at this time if you intend to use Apache 2/2.2.
