my preference in vBulletin. It has great support, great smart features, etc.
Between phpBB and vB, it's easily vB.
However, Invision is a great substitute for vB, with the benefit of being free.
vB has been working on version 3.0 for over a year now, which is a bit frustrating. During that time, IB has seemed to pull slightly ahead with the features. But, I suspect once vB 3.0 is released, it will pull way ahead. The developing team for vB is top notch. The reason for the delays is that they thoroughly test everything. They find that it is better to make people wait than to have to deal with the nightmare of support for bugs.

I prefer PHPBB, if you go to phpbb.com you ill see that they have a lot of things and addons for the script and the control panel is a lot better than vbulletin, I think

I can guess you have never used vbulletins control pannel. vBulletins and Invisions admin panel are light years ahead of phpbb in this area.Originally posted by Daniel Artes

vBulletin is better. It comes with loads of features and stability as it is. vBulletin 2.x.x currently has over 1000 hacks (I made 30 :D) so there's plenty of additional features. There's also lightning fast support.
