I am in a situation where i need to plan for a complete cpanel server change.

I want to swap physical machines yet retain full settings as the server is setup now. The IP's will remain the same.

Basicly its time to replace a old server with a new model.

What is the best route to do a full system restore, then reload onto a new machine with minimal downtime/distruption?

Is it possible to include all db/email and cpanel/whm settings in the backup so once the OS and cpanel/whm is loaded onto the machine i can run a restore file that will rebuilt the machine to exactly as the previous was just new hardware?

Obviously i want to backup the old machine, then switch it off. Power up the new machine and reload the whm data so no dual use of ip addresses.

Any advice would be great,

Many thanks.

Rob.

These are just a few of the threads I've found (by searching) that can be of assistance. I'd suggest reading through them (and others) to get a feel for what will be involved. Then we can get to your specific scenario questions. :)

One suggestion you'll find throughout: get a second IP, even if you only need it for a bit... it will make things much simpler.
