    Hi all,

I have a new dedicated WHM/Cpanel server, everything is working great up to now, but the strangest thing is happening when i try to log in sometimes. I will try to log in a maybe 2 out of 5 times it will tell me my username and password are incorrect(invalid logon) for all accounts I try (root or domain accounts) I use lastpass in chrome so i know its not me typing it in wrong, if i come back to it 5 minutes later it lets me straight in.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Andy

Does that happen if you log in using your server's IP?

For root logins you could check how it looks in /var/log/secure

    Hi,

Yeah it happens whatever way i try to log in. When you say i could check how it looks in /var/log/secure, is that through whm or ssh?

    Thank you

CraftyPanda... did you ever get this issue resolved as i am having the same behaviour with my cpanel and whm logins using chrome and lastpass. Any info on this would be much appreciated. Cheers!

We come across this issue all the time. Turn of cphulkd, that is always the culprit. For some reason it's very sensitive. Too sensitive. If I happen to be logged into SSH at the same time I also connect via sftp, then if I try to open WHM I get locked out (well I did when I tested, then I turned it back off).

This has pretty much always been the way cphulkd works. Most users don't notice it because they don't open more than 1 or 2 connections to the server (usually ftp and WHM or cpanel and WHM). But add 1 more and after a minute or so it'll block you.
