Hello Everyone,

I just moved my website from VPS to dedicated server.

When setting up the WHM in dedicated server, I typed exactly the same information from VPS WHM to Dedi server.. including the hostname.

Today my website works from new IP in dedicated server.

I cant login to VPS Cpanel account because that was transferred to Dedicated. My host provider helped me to transfer the Cpanel account from VPS to dedicated. Took more than 20 hours to transfer 200GB+ website.

Now the problem is in VPS, the hostname is server.mydomain.net which is same in new dedi server.

But when I entered server.mydomain.net in browser the page appears from VPS, not from dedicated server. So I changed the hostname to vps.mydomain.net in "VPS" .. after changing the name WHM suddenly asks for login, I did with my normal login but now it shows invalid.

What I did wrong here? I am confused :(

How to reset the root password? I cant change in VPS control panel, it shows my old root password (SolusVM)

Please help me in this.. how to reset the root or what I did wrong?

Thank you.

***EDIT***

Root login works in WHM and SSH now and hostname worked for sometime but after apache restart, server.mydomain.net shows cant connect. :/

Hello :)

Try accessing cPanel/WHM over the IP address instead of the hostname if the hostname does not resolve. It's likely not going to resolve unless you update the "A" record at the DNS host for the domain name the hostname is associated with.

Thank you.

A record already has the IP.
I edited the default page to redirect from IP to domain. I changed that to default now and for some reason the hostname opens up in browser with Sorry page.

Thank you.

It's normal for the hostname to load the default landing page for cPanel/WHM. Are you attempting to have it load different content?

Thank you.

If I type the IP in browser, it goes to default landing page so I thought to redirect to my website, where is only one domain in the VPS or in server. In VPS if anyone type IP, it redirects to website. After moving to Server, it acts differently. I tried this and that with checking forums and got tired of it and reset it to default page.

May be, its all moving to new place fever, I cancelled that VPS and that IP no longer connected to my domain. So hope this resolves days passes by with new IP.. I dont want to try to fix this problem, I am really confused and tired of seeing other problems :/

Well, the hostname works but shows lots of server.mydomain.net:443 OPTIONS in Apace Log

81-37 - 0/0/2980 . 0.13 957 0 0.0 0.00 1334.78 ::1 server.mydomain.net:443 OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0
82-37 - 0/0/2589 . 0.02 755 0 0.0 0.00 1136.81 ::1 server.mydomain.net:443 OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0
83-37 - 0/0/2536 . 0.00 981 0 0.0 0.00 1145.45 ::1 server.mydomain.net:443 OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0
84-37 - 0/0/2409 . 0.39 937 0 0.0 0.00 1047.72 ::1 server.mydomain.net:443 OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0

and many more..

Thank you :)

The IP address will only load website content if it's a dedicated IP address. Shared IP addresses (or IP addresses configured as the main shared IP address) will show the default website page when opened.

Thank you.
