[WHM] Sorry, a DNS entry for server1.domain.com already exists

    Hi guys, i am using WHM in new vps

    in Edit DNS Zone, i see there is no my hostname yet, my hostname is server1.domain.com
    there is only these zones currently :

    so i tried add server1.domain.com in Add a Dns Zone, but got this error message :


    how to solve this, thank you for the answer before

    Hello :)

    Please check the DNS Zone for your primary domain name. There is likely an "A" entry for "server1" within that DNS Zone already.

    ah you are right, wonder how it can be in domain.com zone?, deleted server1 line there

    now already able to add server1.domain.com in Add a Dns Zone

    Root Administrator
    You do not need a DNS zone for server1.domain.com, you need an A record for server1.domain.com.
    The same with DNS zones for ns1.domain.com & ns2.domain.com, you don't need them, you need the A records only.

    I never make separate DNS records for hostnames and/or nameservers, I add them in the domain's DNS zone, where they belong to.
