(WHM) Switching Hosted Domain Names

    Hi my name is Patrick,

    I work for a web hosting company, I have a problem which concerning one of our new customer in which, we had created a new account in (WHM) with a hosted domain name (abc.com). Then our customer call back to switch our original hosted domain name (abc.com) for a new one (abc1.com). Finally the original domain name will be a domain alias..



    QUESTION: HOW CAN WE DO IT IN (WHM) ?

    Modify an Account

    What you can do is the following:


    • Use Main >> Account Functions >> Modify an Account to change the domain name for the affected account from abc.com to abc1.com.

    • Add abc.com to the account (the account that now has abc1.com as its domain name) as either a parked domain or an addon domain.

    If you want simply a domain alias, you will probably want to add abc.com as a parked domain. An addon domain is similar but also acts as a subdomain. The following section in our documentation explains the distinction between the two:
