    Hello,

I've had this issue for a few months now... when I query whois on my server for any .com domain I get the following error:

    [Querying whois.verisign-grs.com]
[whois.verisign-grs.com: Temporary failure in name resolution]
[Unable to connect to remote host]

    How could I fix this?

    Thanks

can you please ensure that your /etc/resolve.conf and /etc/hosts files are properly configured.

You also need to make sure you have a reasonably new version of jwhois/whois installed. On a few servers a few months back I noticed we had some ancient WHOIS servers listed in the jwhois.conf file. I removed some of the dud ones and added working ones and suddenly everything came to life.
