Why can't you remove the main domain from the account and have it as add-on domain with a folder in the public html folder. Most people I have spoken to have this problem and it's a nightmare for the host owners.

The ones that do not see a problem with this only uses uses 1 domain name.

If you remove the main domain it will cause site down issues in simple words, all the DNS record, directory file path , Apache file path might get messed up.If you just wish to redirect it to folder under public_html then thats possible using .htaccess rule or redirect.

Yes that is true but it's cleaner to have everything in a separate folder in public html and a lot easier for most users. I'm sure this could be done. What is you sell your main domain name?

Hello,

It's possible to change the primary domain name associated with the account, but it requires root access to the server in order to use the "WHM >> Modify an Account" option in Web Host Manager. You'd simply make a backup of the account, remove the existing addon domain name, use "WHM >> Modify an Account" to make the previous addon domain name the primary domain name associated with the account, and then add the previous primary domain name as an addon domain name through cPanel.

Thank you.
