I awoke this morning and was doing normal server monitoring. I then restarted Apache after a client called and said his site was up. His site was still down. I then checked one of my sites on the server and it did not display, instead, it gave a default apache page that said reported Apache version 2.0.14!

I do not run apache 2.0.14, I run 1.3.31. I am the only administrator. How did Apache get changed to 2.0.14.

    I am running......

    WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.1-E2
    RedHat 9 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

cPanel/WHM Updates is set to manual.

cPanel Package Updates and Security Updates are set to Automatic.

This is the second time in about 5 months that this has happened.

Apache 2.x isn't commonly available through cPanel just yet and so I doubt that the unexpected Apache upgrade would be due to cPanel.

Can you check your yum and/or up2date configurations and make sure that they are set to not update httpd? I'm thinking that this is the more likely cause.

Thank you. I will check my up2date. I bet that is the culprit. I had forgotten to check this.
