Can somebody tell me why this happens with proftpd every once in a while? This happens once or twice a day and no matter what I do I cannot get it to stop either through the command line or WHM. The server gets really slow then it all the sudden restarts and goes back to normal.

    last pid: 98200; load averages: 38.75, 12.41, 4.94

I'm running FreeBSD 4.7 with the latest STABLE version of cPanel.

I am running the latest version of Proftpd that is available in the FreeBSD ports collection.

Unfortunately, switching over to Pure-FTP is not currently available for servers running FreeBSD. I hope that cPanel will add this feature soon. I am running it on other servers that do not use cPanel and I really like it alot.

You might try heading over to http://proftpd.linux.co.uk/ and downloading and compiling the latest proftpd instead of waiting for cPanel if you are still having these problems. I would think on FBSD it would be pretty straight forward and I am more than capable and willing to assist if you so require.

    Regards.
