Why doesn't somebody just write a script for ssh so that the index.html doesn't get stored their with data, just an automatic link to another startup file instead. Make it instantaneous and invisible. It would be just as secure as the hyperlinks would be from the index page. That would eliminate the need to have to go in and mess with vi.

    Any suggestions or solutions?.

in C-panel when u create a domain; the default path will be /home/username/public_html

inside this the index.html is to be edited for the domain. the /usr/local/apache/htdocs/index.html file is something that is used to show the general C-panel page for your server ip.
