I just noticed that the awstats data files are kept under each individual accounts /home/account/tmp/awstats directory

Why are the stats data files kept under a /tmp directory?

Are these really temporary (meaning that cpanel will delete the awstats processed stats stats data at some point? )

    Jeff,

Twere I to be a guessing man, I would sum it up as follows ....

The data in the /tmp stats directory is/would be used for processing site stats. However, removing any of the data in the /tmp directory might "break" your stats, but would not negatively affect the actual account.
